Bom-Wrapper

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Verva Harris can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

I Have Two Little Friends

Thhis poem was written in 1925 by a close friend of the family

"Dedicated to Vera and Verva Hatfield"

The world may think me Poor today

But I have, over across the way,

Two little friends with sun-bleached hair.

Two little friends as free as the air;

Eyes as blue as the sky is blue,

Two little hearts so brave and true,

And 'though I can't tell "together from which,"

With these little friends I know, I am rich.

My little friends are twins, you see,

As like each other as Pea is Pea.

Lithe little bodies the same in size,

The same bright light in the same brigh eyes

The same sun-tan on the same little space

With the same little smile on the same little face.

The same little chin and the same little nose

With the same little feet and the same little toes!

My little friends are very great joys;

I know they are girls' yet believe they are boys.

They know just where in the nearby creek

To find the fish they so often seek.

On the highest limb in the tallest tree

Is the place my little friends like to be.

They sway in the air on the high trapeze

And breast the waves with the greatest ease.

When I grow old and my step is slow

I'll still have two little friends, I know.

They may be tall Young ladies fair

But will be the same I knew back there;

The same who Pinned on my coat lapel

The flowers sweet that I loved so well.

That my little friends be as they are today

In the years to come, is the prayer I pray!
