Life Story for William "Bud" Budworth

William "Bud" Budworth
William David Budworth (Bud) passed away peacefully from leukemia on December 26, 2017 at his home in Hood River, Oregon.

Bud was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and grew up in Kenora, Ontario. He graduated from the Kenora Keewatin District High School and, in 1958, graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, making his parents very proud. Bud and Vel were married in 1955 in Kenora.

Bud was predeceased by his parents, William and Jessie Budworth. He is survived and will be missed by his dearly beloved wife, Velma and their four sons: Derek (Sherry), Kevin (Alyssa), Brian (Debbie), Bruce (Michelle); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Bud is also survived by his brother, Brian (Carole), of Milton, Ontario and his sisters, Dallas (Roy) McIntyre of Waterville, Minnesota and Darcy McMillan of Winnipeg Manitoba and their families. We will all miss his "Gramps jokes”.

Bud worked for Canadair in Montreal, and then moved to Seattle in 1958, working for Boeing for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Bud and Vel spent many years wintering at their home in the Baja, skiing on their beloved Crystal Mountain and wind surfing in the Columbia Gorge, all of these made even more enjoyable with their many friends. He was a member of the Hash House Harrier Running Club and was known for his love of Porsches. Guillermo was a great Santa in the Baja even though he didn't quite have the shape for it! Bud and Vel travelled frequently in their retirement years, to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Europe, and attended every triennial Budworth Family Reunion.

He was an intelligent, kind man with a great sense of humor. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they adored him. The world is a sadder place without him.

In memory of Bud and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to; Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association (202 Oak St. Hood River, OR 97031) –or- Providence Hospice of the Gorge (1630 Woods Court, Hood River OR 97031).

Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
