Viva Nell Walters Taylor of Hood River Oregon passed from this life to be at home with God on September 11th, 2012 at the age of 85. Nell was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on October 12th, 1926 to Lancaster and Winnie Walters.

At 2 years of age Nell and her family moved from Oklahoma to Los Angeles CA because of the “Dust Bowl” and to find work. Nell attended grade school in Los Angeles as well as 2 years of college at Pepperdine College before marrying Ed Taylor on January 7th, 1947. After her children were in school, she continued her education and received a degree in education from Portland State University.

Nell spent many years working for General Telephone and then later GTE in California, Oregon and Washington. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, quilting, and singing.

Nell is survived by her 4 children; Wayne & Colleen Taylor of Sandy OR, Nancy & James Hinds of Scappoose OR, Ellen & Robert Brockman of Monroe WA and Diane & Stephen Lord of Liberty MO; 11 grandchildren and their 7 spouses, 5 great-grandchildren and her sister Donna Flock of Boise ID.

A cheerful, kind and Godly woman, Nell was faithful to the end of her life. Blessed with a soprano voice, Nell loved to sing and teach Bible class at every congregation she attended. Nell was preceded in death by her husband Ed of 64 years, her parents and her siblings, Lois Pope and Carl Walters.

Services are planned for 1:00p.m., Monday, September 17th at the Hood River Church of Christ (1512 Tucker Road) with viewing starting at 11:00 a.m.
