Bette

Bette was my first "Boss" at the Safeway Snack Bar. We had a lot of fun at work because she made it that way. She got the idea that we would be "Bunny Girls" but not the Playboy type. We all sewed our white suits and made caps with ears. She would always have a food special and this time it was ice cream sundaes. My bunny suit had all kinds of flavors down the front of me by the end of the day. The ladies from the phone company would come down for lunch every day. Bette always greeted them with a great big smile. Bette had Sundays off and she came in to decorate for Christmas. Windex had just came out with the foaming spray. She decorated the windows, thought the Windex would work like snow and went home. I called her shortly after and asked her "What was that stuff? It's dripping down the glass". We got a good laugh at that. Bette taught me how to make people happy through food. Loved her beef stroganoff and wish I could make it like hers. Years later, I stopped at her restaurant to say "Hi". It was so good to see her smile. I am so sorry for your lost. She was a special lady and will be greatly miss.
