To the Guzman family, I greet you in love and condolences for your great loss. Our story began 36 years ago at my father’s house, when I met Apolonio and Serafin. (Polo and Serf) They were best of friends in those days with my dad and shared stories of their trips down to Ensenada, Mexico. My dad loved those trips, and still talks about them. I met Daniel, with his brother’s, Martin, Jose, and Ernesto down in Maryhill. Then again later in Hood River on Serpentine road. His mom was the BEST cook ever! They taught me to eat frijole’s Mexican style and treated me as an honored guest. I will forever love them for that! Throughout the years later when the uncle’s visited me or my dad, Daniel liked to come along with them. He and my son Jason became fast friends. He continued to check in with my dad as an adult. What a sweetheart he was! When we ran into each other over the years, it was always BIG HUGS and lot’s of love. Then this year we got real close again. Regular phone calls and messenger notes. He told me all about his siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, and of course the uncles. He loved you all with his whole heart! We were planning a trip to Ensenada in August, and when I had a health issue on June 6th he called and told me even if he had to rent a van with a hospital bed in it, he would, and take me down to Mexico! He was the sweetest kid! My heart is broken with the loss of my dear sweet friend. God Bless you all, and may you find comfort in each other’s love. Thank you for sharing your gift with me, as I know you will agree, he was a treasured gift, pure and simple.
