Carl Warren Selin passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 surrounded by those he loved at his home in Hood River, Oregon.

A service with Military Honors is planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6th, 2014 at Willamette National Cemetery (11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. Portland, Oregon 97086). Pastor Jeff Mueller of Hood River Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate.
Carl was born February 23, 1927 in Berkeley, California to Bertil and Ethel Carlson Selin. He grew up in Scandia, Kansas where his father was a Methodist pastor and his mother taught music. The family later lived in Des Moines, IA and Chicago, IL.
Carl served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46 and the U.S. Coast Guard from 1959 to 1979. He was the Direction of Athletics and also baseball and football coach at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. Carl retired as a Captain in 1979, and was later inducted into the CG Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
On December 24th, 1981 Carl married Dana Noble at the Stonington Methodist Church in Stonington, ME. They lived in Maine, Minnesota, North Carolina, Washington, Florida, Montana and currently reside in Hood River, Oregon. They owned and operated the Maine Wilderness Canoe Basin and Maine Waterways - Deer Isle Sailing Center in Maine from 1973-1999. Carl and Dana both enjoyed biking, canoeing, swimming and sailing.
Carl is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Dana, children Steve, Karen, Scott and Scotia, and 9 grandchildren.
