I spent yesterday wishing I could attend the memorial for Carroll, meet his friends, and hear their stories. Thanks to those that posted photos of Carroll in his younger days, long before I met him. I will sorely miss our phone conversations, and the hospitality he and Lorraine showed on my yearly trips through Hood River as I traveled from my home in Alaska to family in Washington and California. I really only knew him for the last four or five years, when we met as my dad -- his old friend from college -- was dying in 2010. We quickly formed a bond that has now been broken much too soon.
