Life Story for Victor S. Tucker

Victor S. Tucker
Victor Samuel Tucker, 92, passed away, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his home in Hood River, Oregon surrounded by his family.

Victor was a devoted and loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie, son Bruce (Sandi) Tucker, many nieces and nephews, dear friend of 72 years Jim (Doreen) Quinn of Montreal, Canada and many friends.

Victor was born November 30, 1920 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the son of Frederick and Lily, the youngest of seven children, five brothers, Frederick, Arthur, William, George, Edward, and one sister, Beatrice. He loved the outdoors and sports. He grew up enjoying skiing in the mountains of eastern Canada, playing hockey with the farm team of the Montreal Canadiens, trained in life saving swimming techniques, won several trophies for bowling, played countless rounds of golf with his buddies, fished with his son in Alaska, and went camping whenever possible. Victor donated many volunteer hours to the Crawford Park Association in Montreal, working with many programs in his community.

After high school, Victor went on to complete three years of training at Montreal Technical Institute in mechanical engineering which fit his sharp mind well. He worked as an engineer and tool and die maker with Crane Canada Ltd. for many years before relocating his family to Placentia, California in 1968 for new engineering opportunities. He was a member of The American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers, The Society of Carbide Engineers along with other prestigious associations. After capping his career with Garrison Hydraulics and Dana Corporation in Irvine, California, Victor retired in 1982 to devote his time to Marjorie and Bruce, the serious pursuit of golf, travel and the overall enjoyment of life. So many stories!

The family wishes to thank every person who helped in numerous ways over the years, the contributions are countless and tremendously valued. A special thank you is offered to the staff of Hospice of the Gorge for their work and kindness provided to Victor and his family. “To all of those who wish him well.”

Victor will be laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, California, with a memorial service date to be determined.
