After 91 butt-kicking years, my grandma, Rachel Shields, past away tonight surrounded by her family. She went peacefully after saying her goodbyes to everyone and in a way that respected her faith and dignity. I hope that all people have the same wonderful experience with death as I and my family did tonight. I want to thank Good Samaritan Hospital for following my grandmother's advanced directive. The staff made sure that she was comfortable and not in pain in her last moments. I also want to thank my mother for being a rock for the entire family in these trying times (and for giving me orders for the past two days so I too could remain balanced). I hope I can be as brave as Rachel Babe when in my last minutes in life. She will be missed, but I am so glad to have known her. Rest in Peace.
