Life Story for Walter "Walt" Markum

Walter Lee Markum (Walt), 66, of The Dalles, Oregon went Home to Abba, at his home, Friday October 13, 2017.

Walt was born March 3rd, 1951, in LaGrande, Oregon to Garland Wayne and Lillian Ellen Burkhart Markum. On February 7th, 1974, Walt was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn VanZant Joers.

He was a 1969 graduate of Pilot Rock High School and earned his Associate’s degree from Clackamas Community College. Walt was a business owner, contractor, auto restorationist and minister of God…a real servant who loved people. He was a lifetime member of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, House of Grace among many other organizations.

Walt was a devoted husband, father and grandpa who enjoyed being with his family. He also loved Jesus, fishing, walking, trucks and cars.

He is survived by his wife and 5 children: two step children - Tina M. Joers and Tim Wallace (Molalla, OR) and James L. Joers (Portland, OR); two sons - Walter Scott Markum and Joseph Lee Markum (both of The Dalles, OR); and daughter - Jennifer Ruderman (Vancouver, WA); six siblings: Jeanie Lutman (Versallies, MO ), Betty Markum (Vancouver, WA), Robert Markum , Patricia Long, Charline Wyne (all of LaGrande, OR) Susan Houge (White Salmon, WA) and); 11 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Walt was predeceased by his parents, oldest sister Julia Fern Markum Ray and half-brother Rodney Wayne Markum.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM Saturday October 28, 2017 at House of Grace (114 West Jefferson Street Bingen, WA). A reception will follow.
