Life Story for Susan Murray

Susan Murray
Susan Kay Murray was born on September 29, 1954 in Lebanon, Oregon to Richard J. Davis and Virginia Joann (Garrett) Davis. She passed away on January 24, 2018 at home in the company of her family, after a battle with cancer. Sue was 63 years old at the time of her passing.

In 1968 Sue’s family moved to Hood River from Brownsville Oregon, where she had attended grade school. Her dad had been transferred here to take over as manager of the Dee Hardboard Plant. Sue was a teenager at the time and attended Wy’East and Hood River Valley High School. After high school Sue married Kris Leiblein and they had 2 boys, Rob and Grady. Sue was a stay at home mom taking care of her family for several years.

In February of 1985 she decided to try a retail sales job at Murray’s Furniture. It quickly turned out that Sue was not only good at selling furniture, but also had a great talent for decorating and color coordination. Sue was very good at her job and enjoyed helping friends and customers throughout the area decorate their homes.

Sue enjoyed trips to Hawaii and was always ready for a gambling trip to Reno or Lake Tahoe. Her hobbies were babysitting her grand kids, decorating her home and working in her yard, especially mowing the lawn.

Sue’s greatest joy and accomplishment was her two boys and their families. She was so proud of her boys and their school and athletic and employment accomplishments. Years later she was equally proud of her grandsons and granddaughters. She loved them all so much.

Sue is survived by her husband Greg Murray who had the unbelievable good fortune to have known Sue for 33 years and to be married to her for the last 22 years. Son Rob Leiblein and his wife Sarah and thier children Caden and Reese. Son Grady Leiblein and his wife Jamie and their children Colton, Ethan and Landri. First husband Kris Leiblein, sisters Becky Lucas and Husband Melvin. Niece Jody Privatsky, husband Aaron and daughters Ella and Hannah. Nephew Tom Lucas and sons Dalton and Mason and her dog Annie.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Joann Davis, her grandparents, several aunts and an uncle.

Remember always, when a person begins a journey, people are saying “there she goes” while those on the other side are saying “Here she comes”.

In memory of Sue and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of Hospice or the American Cancer Society sent care of Anderson’s Tribute Center.

A time for friends to visit with family and celebrate Sue’s life is planned for 12noon to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Divots (Indian Creek Golf Course, 3605 Brookside Drive, Hood River, OR 97031). A private ceremony at Idlewilde Mausoleum was held on January 29th, 2018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
