I am a volunteer with Providence VIA. I met Russ last summer when he was needing someone to walk with him outside. He was using his walker but would sometimes fall. Each time I came we would visit for a while then walk around the driveway. As we went into fall, it became increasingly difficult for him, so my visits became just visits and finch feeder refills. I found him to be a most interesting man. Certainly one of many travels and experiences. While I didn't always agree with his opinions, I found we could respectfully disagree. He seemed strong minded (should I say stubborn?). He was always polite and appreciative of my visits and I came to enjoy seeing him. He packed a lot of living into his years and I am sorry at his passing. Please accept my condolences.
