Obituary for Roy Crouch

Roy  Crouch
Roy Calvin Crouch, 91, died peacefully with his immediate family in attendance Saturday, October 17, 2015 at his home in Hood River, Oregon. No services are planned at this time.
Roy was born in Fort Dodge, IA, May 21, 1924 to Leonard and Luella Crouch. He moved to Casper, WY at an early age with his parents and two sisters, Lorayne (Smith) and Donna (Moyle). His parents preceded him in death as well as his elder sister Lorayne.
Roy attended Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1943. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and starred in football, basketball, baseball, tennis and track. He had great agility and coordination even into his later years. He consistently defeated his sons, daughter and all comers at ping-pong.
Roy enlisted in the army after graduation and was part of the Normandy invasion at Omaha Beach. He served four years and was stationed in Europe for the duration of WWII.
Roy returned to Casper and attended Casper College, playing point guard for the basketball team. He married Sara (Sally) Boyer in 1947. They had three children. John, Cinda, and Paul.
Roy worked at the Amoco Refinery for 35 years and was a union member. Outside of work Roy enjoyed bowling, softball, racquet ball, tennis and golf. He was an avid fisherman. He was known as an excellent Little League Baseball coach. He played every kid in every game and was a superb skills instructor.
Upon retirement he and Sara moved to Saint George, UT. They were a popular couple in the community and in the Saint George Community Church. Roy enjoyed golf, cribbage, jigsaw puzzles and socializing with many friends. In later years he and Sara became active caregivers for ailing friends.
After 64 years of marriage, Dad's loving wife, Sara, died in March of 2012. Roy then relocated to Hood River, OR to be closer to Paul and Cinda. He continued to be independent and active as a resident of Down Manor.
Roy is survived by his sister Donna Moyle, Casper, WY; son John and wife Deborah of Green River, WY; daughter Cinda Allen and husband Tom Kaser, Hood River, OR.; son Paul and partner Trish Leighton, Hood River, OR. Surviving grandchildren include Jason Crouch, Casper, WY; Robin Allen and husband Paul Antunes, Hood River, OR; Chandra Dodge and husband Shayne, Casper, WY; Marcus Crouch and Steven Crouch, Hood River, OR. Great-grandchildren include Joah Crouch and Madilyn Dodge, both of Casper, WY.
The family would especially like to acknowledge caregivers Tonya DeHart and Ann Keehr for their compassionate care as well as Hospice of the Gorge.
