Robert “Bob” Buckley passed away on August 15, 2018, with family by his side, at his son’s home in Hood River, Oregon. Bob was born on June 02, 1936 and was 82 years of age at the time of his passing.

Life Story for Robert "Bob" Eugene Buckley
Robert Eugene Buckley, 82 of Hood River, OR, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2018 at his son’s home surrounded by family.Bob was born in Hood River on June 2, 1936 to Eugene and Helene Buckley of Odell, OR. He attended school in Odell and graduated from Wy’East High School in 1954. He was a basketball and football player during his time at Wy’East. Bob was in the National Guard for a time after graduating from High School. He had a 27 year career with Pacific Power, retiring in 1983.
He married Mary Jane Young on August 1, 1958. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. His favorite memory with Mary Jane was their honeymoon in Canada. Bob’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was their number one fan attending all their sports events. He recently recalled with pride when his son Jeff’s HRVHS baseball team won the state championship in 1980. He spent later years watching his grandsons on the sports field. His grandson Dallas was a key player when 2015 HRVHS baseball team won the state championship, making Jeff and Dalles the only two father-son state champs. He had hoped to see grandson Ryles achieve the same goal.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane; sons Jeff of Hood River; Randall of Portland; grandsons Dalles and Ryles both of Hood River; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Helen Buckley; brother Claude Buckley; and sisters Arlene Allegre and Janiece Gillmouthe.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25th at the Hood River Elks Lodge (304 Cascade Avenue). Interment will be at Idlewilde Cemetery.
