Life Story for Robert "Bob" Ray Culver

Robert "Bob" Ray Culver
Robert “Bob” Culver of The Dalles, Oregon went to his Heavenly Home on December 16, 2017. He passed away at OHSU due to a traumatic brain injury from a fall.

He was born on April 20, 1940 in Carson, North Dakota to Fred and Grace (Dean) Culver. He was raised on the family farm with two brothers and learned to love baseball at a young age.

On September 28, 1963, he married the love of his life, Audrey Schlichtkrull. Soon after his marriage, he served in the US army from 1963-1965. During that time, his two oldest children, Carla and Scott were born. Later, they welcomed Kyle into the family.

While in North Dakota, Bob worked for the State Lab Health Department, was a taxi driver, and was an avid bowler and softball player.

In 1988, Bob, Audrey and Kyle moved to The Dalles, Oregon for Audrey’s job. They met many friends, and Bob continued his love of bowling and baseball. On any given day, Bob could be found watching his beloved Yankees playing ball. In recent years, Bob made many friends in his church community group and looked forward to attending church at Gateway Presbyterian. When he wasn’t attending his church group or watching baseball, he also loved spending time at the ocean with family and friends, or often was found drinking coffee at McDonalds with Audrey.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey; daughter, Carla Culver of Bismarck ND; son, Scott (Christa) Culver of Deadwood SD and son, Kyle Culver (Nikki) of The Dalles; grandchildren, Jenna (Josh), Kristi, Levi, Hunter, and Caysan; great-grandchildren include Alek, Draven, KristaLynn, Keegan, Jude, and Charli. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Charles and Paul.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He will be missed greatly.

Service will be held at Gateway Presbyterian church on Saturday, January 6th at 2:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at a later date by family in his final resting place in Mandan, ND. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center • Celilo Chapel 204 E. 4th Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
