Obituary for Michael "Mike" Hoikka
Michael W. Hoikka of Hood River, OR died March 17, 2018 at his home in Odell, OR surrounded by family. He was of 55 years old and had been battling cancer.
Mike was born July 13, 1962 to John “Cal” and Florence “Flossie” Hoikka in Astoria, OR. He graduated from Knappa High School in 1980. Shortly after graduation he met and married Barbara Nellermoe and they later settled in Hood River.
He enjoyed fishing, clamming, crabbing, hunting, history, reading, and spending time with his wife and family and friends. Mike will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom and great knowledge in fishing, crabbing and history.
Mike was preceded in death by his father John “Cal” Hoikka in 1987 and his mother Florence “Flossie” Hoikka in 2018. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Hood River, OR; daughter Bethany (Micah) Heath of Beaverton, OR; granddaughter Penelope Heath; and his two brothers Duane (Pam) Hoikka of Summerville, OR and Kevin (Jinnie) Hoikka of Ahkeny, IA., and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.
