Lura Christine Osburn passed away January 31st, 2015 at Brookside Manor in Hood River, Oregon. She was born March 18, 1918 and was 96 at the time of her passing.
She was born in Beaudry, Arkansas, the oldest of five children of George R. and Ethel Johnson Trantham. She was raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Lura married Cecil H. Osburn in February of 1943, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Cecil became a career officer in the United States Air Force. This led to a life of many moves across the mainland United States, Alaska, Hawaii and The Philippines. They raised two daughters; Cecilia Ann and Pamela Sue. Cecil retired from the Air Force in 1965 and they retired to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1984.
Lura believed in strong family values. Lura led a full and accomplished life fulfilling the responsibilities of an officer’s wife and a mother. She was an avid reader. Her interests were playing bridge, the piano, golf, gourmet cooking, sewing, gardening and her church.
Lura was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel, Cecil H. Osburn in 1986. She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia Ann Mansur (and husband, Paul) of Hood River, Oregon and Pamela Sue Gosnell of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Jeffrey (and wife, JoLynn) Mansur, Scott (and wife, Sarah) Mansur and Kaitlin (and husband, Dan) Clarke; six great grandchildren, Joshua, Jadon, Tyler, Anna, Allison and James.
Private family services will be held in Hood River and she will be laid to rest with her husband at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona.
