Obituary for Kyle Francis Brogna

Kyle Francis Brogna
Kyle passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11 in Hood River due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes. He was born January 3, 1991 in Lancaster, California, where he lived with his father Todd Brogna, mother Theresa Maher Brogna, and sister Kaitlyn Brogna until 2007, when they moved to Hood River. Kyle loved living in Hood River and graduated from Hood River Valley High School in 2009. He attended Portland Community College and planned to follow his father into the wind energy industry. He loved many outdoor activities including riding motorcycles, snowboarding, and wake-boarding and other water sports. Kyle played hockey for 12 years and was a great goalie. He loved animals, especially his dogs Sophie and Gizzy. Kyle had suffered from Type 1 Diabetes since age 8, but never let it slow him down or define him. He is survived by his parents and sister, paternal grandmother, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Francis and Beryl Maher, and his uncle, James Maher. IIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 7000 SW Hampton, Suite 101, Portland, OR 97223.
