Life Story for Kenneth William "Kenny" Gandy

Kenneth (Kenny) Gandy passed on June 2, 2017 at the age of 73. Kenny had fought numerous health issues in recent years and was able to be at home with his wife Ronnie, daughter Shelly and close friends, Ron and Joyce Tanner, Pam Reindel and Joyce DeVries by his side.

Kenny was born on September 1, 1943, to James Burke Gandy and Isabelle Neomia (Justice) Gandy in Escondido, CA, the second of three children, older brother, Jimmy, and younger sister, Corlene. He attended schools in Hood River, OR.

He married Rhonda (Ronnie) Orcutt on June 25, 1977. They have two daughters, Rochelle Marie (Shelly) and Andrea Lynn (Annie). (Kenny had a third daughter, Treasa Lynn, by a previous marriage.) They resided in Hood River and Burns, OR in addition to their current home in Centerville, WA. Kenny worked as a journeyman millwright for several lumber and aluminum companies in Oregon and Washington.

Kenny was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, boxing, woodworking, welding and tinkering in his shop. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend who always had the devilry of the Irish leprechaun visible in the twinkle of his eye and the smile on his face! He loved his family more then life itself and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play sports and all the activities in which they participated. He taught them about woodworking and many other types of shop work along with the importance of safety with the tools they used. (And how to clean the tools and put them back where they got them). He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Ronnie, daughter Shelly (husband RJ) Mersch, grandsons Wyatt Mercer, William and Andrew Gosson, step-grandsons Chris and Tanner Mersch and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, JB and Neomia Gandy, siblings Jimmy and Corlene, daughter Annie (1984) and daughter Treasa Lynn Coons (2016).

At Kenny’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Kenny’s name be made to: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Heart of Hospice or the March of Dimes.

An Irish Prayer

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
