James Edward Smith “Jim” Passed away September 20, 2012 in Hood River, Oregon. Jim was born July 17, 1930 in McLean, Texas to Ernest and Mammie Smith. Jim was 82 years of age.

Jim married Sallie Zimmerman in Hood River on September 4, 1954 and they were blessed with two children; Leslie and Michael. He was in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan as a guard at an American Military Stockade.

Jim spent most of his working years at several jobs in Hood River including; Diamond Fruit, Selby’s Appliance and later operated his own business, Jim’s Small Appliance Repair for several years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health declined.

He was preceded death by his parents, five sisters and one brother. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sallie of Hood River; daughter, Leslie of Portland, OR and son, Michael Smith of Hood River; several nieces and nephews.
