Obituary for Harold Smith

Harold  Smith

Harold Drayfus Smith, 81, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born on January 23, 1929 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma to Joe Bearskin and Iola (Smith) Waldon. Harold served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the Harvey Aluminum plant in The Dalles, Oregon.

Harold married Vera (Mathis) Frazier on May 18, 2000 in Hood River, Oregon. He lived in the Wyandotte, OK area for eight years after moving from Oregon. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars. He was a member of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife Vera; his children Betty Wollam and Sherry Taylor of Milwaukie, OR and Harold D. Smith Jr. of Hood River, OR; stepchildren Darrell Frazier and Dale & Anita Frazier of Wyandotte, OK and Brenda Brock of Fairland, OK; brother Tommy Ray Waldon of Hood River, OR and sister Vestena “Foxie” Emerson of Grove, OK; grandchildren Michelle, Aaron, Jaret, Alicha and Darrick. Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma L. Smith, and his son Johnny A. Smith.

Indian services will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday September 17, 2010 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK with Ceremonial Chief Charlie Deibold officiating. Visitation will follow the service.

Hood River services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Anderson’s Tribute Center followed by gravesite service at Mountain View Cemetery in Hood River, Oregon.
