Obituary for Gordon Lee Noyes

Gordon Lee  Noyes
Gordon Lee Noyes, passed away July 14th, 2008 at his Hood River home with family by his side at the age of 67.
Services to honor Gordon’s life are scheduled for 12 noon, Thursday, July 17th, 2008 at Anderson’s Tribute Center, Pastor Ricky Walker of the First Baptist Church of Odell is officiating. Graveside Rites will follow at Idlewilde Cemetery.
Gordon was born July 22, 1940 in Hood River to William H. and Frances M. (Pleshnik) Noyes. He grew up in Hood River and graduated from Wy’East High School in 1958. In his youth, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and 4-H. It was also at this time that he developed a passion for foreign sports cars and motorcycles. He actively participated in sports car rallies throughout Oregon and Washington.
He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. He was an Aircraft Mechanic stationed in Okinawa and towards the end of his service, in Dover, DE.
On September 16, 1961 in Vancouver, Washington with a midnight ceremony, Gordon married the love of his life Doris Marie Sollman. To this union they were blessed four children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and in the great outdoors; he particularly liked to fish and the family recalls many fun fishing and camping trips. He also liked skiing, travelling, and gardening.
He worked for Northwest Aluminum in The Dalles as a steel worker until his retirement in 2000. During his retirement, he really enjoyed spending time with his dog Honey. Part of his daily ritual involved taking Honey for walks at various parks throughout the gorge every morning.
Gordon is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Doris at their Hood River home; two sons, Eric of The Dalles, Oregon and James of Hood River, Oregon; 5 grandchildren, Crystal, Sasha, Ashlee, Jonathon, and Kori and 1 great grandchild, Lily all of Hood River, Oregon; a brother Robert Noyes of Whidbey Island, WA; and a sister Sylvia Revelle of Gooding, ID.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Gordon Jr. and Jill.
