Life Story for Garnet Chrisman

Garnet Chrisman
Garnet May Chrisman joined her husband Edwin Merrill Chrisman to forever rest in peace on March 18, 2018. Garnet was 98 years old and adored by all of her large family. She will be greatly missed by her son, Robert Chrisman; her five grandchildren, Karen Ostrye, Kathleen Cowger, Rebecca Hunter, Robert Chrisman Jr., and Anne-Marie Chrisman, her six great grandchildren; Ted Robert and Travis Ostrye, Christopher and Tyler Cowger, and John and Will Hunter and her first great great grandchild, Rylee Cowger. She will be missed by brother Stanley Conley (100), and her sister Dorothy Dorsett (95).

Garnet was one of eight siblings. Born in 1919, she lived through the great depression which significantly impacted her values for the rest of her life. She did not take things for granted, she did not waste, she was industrious and she was creative. Garnet loved to cook, to look at recipes, to grow food, discuss food and preserve food. She was an amazing cook, the kind of grandma that brought her large family together for special occasions and instilled deep traditions in all of us.

Garnet experienced a long and full life– one that included pain, heartache, love and joy. She was a caring wife to her husband of 73 years, she was a devoted mother, and she was the grandma that everyone wishes for. All who knew her will smile when they think of her in the “big kitchen in the sky,” and be grateful for all that she gave to us during our time with her. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

A graveside service for Garnet’s family and friends will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday April 7, 2018 at Idlewilde Cemetery (980 Tucker Road), Hood River, Oregon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
