Life Story for Fred Jerry Lahti

Fred Jerry  Lahti
Fred Jerry Lahti passed away on August 20, 2018 at Ashley Manor residential living in Hood River, with his family at his side.

Fred was born on February 18, 1937 in Astoria, Oregon to Hilly and Martha Lahti. He and his sister Ruth grew up in Brownsmead, Oregon a small Finnish community east of Astoria.

Fred was drafted by the army in 1958 and became an M.P. until his honorable discharge in 1962.

He worked in the timber industry for 35 years. Initially working in the woods, then in June of 1963 started working for Columbia River Log Scaling and Grading Bureau.

In November of 1963, Fred married the love of his life Marlene in Kelso, Washington. The family settled in Hood River, Oregon. Fred and Marlene were blessed with five children and shared 54 years together.

Fred enjoyed the outdoors, fishing amd hunting (deer, elk, duck and geese). He took his family to the coast many times over the years to go clam digging. He loved his horses, and loved rodeo’s. He also collected carnival glass.

Fred leaves behind is wife Marlene; five children, Doug (Mandy) Lahti of Mt. Hood, Oregon, Jeff (Deana) Lahti of Hood River, Oregon, Cindy (Steve) Hamilton of LaGrande, Oregon, Terry (Gayson) Scott of Milwaukie, Oregon and Larry (Lisa) Lahti of North Bonneville, Washington; sister, Ruth Addison of Seattle, Washington; three nieces; three nephews; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Services are planned for 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30th, 2018 at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
