Obituary for Floyd Cochran

Floyd  Cochran

Floyd Cochran, passed away July 22, 2010 at his home in Parkdale with family by his side.

Floyd was born August 4, 1934 in Bryson City, North Carolina to Harley and Una (Ray) Cochran. He lived in North Carolina until he was 11 when he moved to the Hood River Valley with his family. The family lived in Hood River and Floyd attended schools in Hood River and then went to work for Hanel Mill

On November 11, 1952 Floyd married Lila Mary Meyers at Stevenson, Washington and made their home in Parkdale. They were blessed with five children; Teresa, Terry, David, Daniel & Donald. The family recalls their memories of many camping, hunting and fishing trips or when Floyd would bring out his guitar and sing. He worked at Hanel Mill for nearly 40 years working on the floor as an edger and sawyer. He was a hard working man that provided for his family. The family was active in the Odell First Baptist Church and although in his later years he wouldn’t play his guitar he still loved to sing at church. Floyd was an avid bowler and bowled three times a week for many years and was bowling right up to the end. He collected many friends over the years from Hanel Mill, the Odell Baptist Church and Bowling League he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Floyd is survived and will be dearly missed by; his wife, Lila at their home in Parkdale, Oregon; four children, Teresa (& Bruce) Bell of Riverside, California, Terry Cochran of Hood River, Oregon, Dave (& Jeannette) Cochran of Hood River, Oregon and Don (& Dianna) Cochran of Hood River, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Christina, Shawn, Kara, Ryan, Natalie, James, Amber & Pat; six great grandchildren, Natasha, Nicole, Olive, Jordon, Julian & Niya; siblings, Helen Muhs, George Cochran and Bill Cochran; and other distant family and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Cochran.

A service to honor Floyd is planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31st, 2010 at Anderson’s Tribute Center. Family friend and Pastor Rick Plank will officiate. Graveside Rites will follow at Idlewilde Cemetery.
