Life Story for Evelyn Mae Lingo

Evelyn Mae  Lingo
Evelyn Mae Lingo, 91, died peacefully at Ashley Manor, Hood River, Oregon on February 21, 2018. Evelyn was born on January 9, 1927 and was 91 years of age at the time of her passing.

A longtime resident of The Dalles, Oregon, she was born in International Falls, Minnesota to Robert and Eva King. She spent her youth in Minnesota and California before moving to Hawaii and Alaska, working as a civilian for the military.

She wed Herman Paul Lingo, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and married for 62 years until his death in 2012. They settled in The Dalles after arriving in 1960. Paul was working on the construction of The Dalles Dam and Evelyn was a homemaker. Together they raised their 11 children.

She was a longstanding member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Rose’s Circle. She was always one to help others in need, whether that was family, friends, neighbors or strangers. She also volunteered with Meal On Wheels and kept busy with projects around her home. Evelyn especially enjoyed spending time with her many children and grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by 10 children, Lynn Hostetter and husband Rich, Wickenburg, Ariz.; Claudia Koch and husband Steve, Wenatchee, Wash.; Nancy Lingo-Lehrman and husband Jerry, Albuquerque, N.M.; Emily Lingo, Las Vegas, Nev.; Jim Lingo, The Dalles; Carol Ritchey and husband Alan, Keizer, Ore.; John Lingo, The Dalles; Joan Snyder, Austin, Texas; Patty Buchanan and husband Tim, Vernonia, Ore.; Mary Jo Titus and husband Paul, The Dalles, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Mallory, Carol, Julie, Michael, Lily, Logan, Natalie; and great grandchildren Marina and Yelisey.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her eldest son Robert Paul Lingo; and three siblings, James King, Daly City, Ca., Robert King, Florence, Ore., Jane Burnett, Albany, N.Y..

Family would like to thank Lisa and all the caregivers at Ashley Manor for their attentive care and love shown to their mother.
