Obituary for Estella May Jordan

Estella May  Jordan
Estella May Jordan of Coeur d’Alene, 88, went to be with her Lord on September 3, 2012.

The fifth child born to Ollie Francis Thompson and Mary Edith (Martin) Thompson she was born on July 4, 1924, in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was raised in Piedmont, Oklahoma, and had a cat that she named Sticktight, because it did.

Estella married Melvine Eugene Jordan on March 2, 1943. After the war, they settled in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Long Beach, California, in 1952. While raising her 5 children, she was active in scouting, PTA, her church, and enjoyed bowling with friends. In 1984, she and Melvine moved to a 24 acre farm in Parkdale, Oregon, where she was active in gardening and her church. In 1999, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she continued to be active with gardening, sewing, quilting, her church, and as a volunteer at the Hospice Thrift Store.

Estella is survived by 2 daughters, 3 sons, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. The daughters are Karen Arrasmith of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Rose Mary Gray of Cerritos, California; the sons are Larry Jordan of Paso Robles, California, Robert Jordan of Atascadero, California, and Daniel Jordan of Woodinville, Washington; the sisters are Helen Basey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jane Patterson, of Edmond, Oklahoma; the brothers are Robert Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Glenn Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the center of her life. The love, kindness, generosity, and care that she shared with all those she touched will live as a beautiful example of Christ’s love on earth forever. We will miss her dearly but remember her always.

Estella will be laid to rest at the Upper Valley Parkdale Cemetery (6917 Allen Road, Parkdale) next to her husband Melvine at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15th, 2012. Pastor Don Gibbs will officiate. A reception will follow her graveside service at the Parkdale Community Church (4910 Baseline Drive, Parkdale).
