Life Story for Elizabeth McCoy

Elizabeth McCoy passed away April 7, 2016 at her home in Hood River, Oregon with family by her side. She was 89 at the time of her passing.

Elizabeth was born December 23, 1926 in Kingsburg, California to Vartavar and Margaret (Yardumian) Emerzian. She grew up in Parlier, California helping family harvest raisins. Working on a farm gave her a hard work ethic that she carried throughout her life from helping her husband in their Hood River Floor shop and later waitressing in local restaurant’s.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and ESA Soroity. She enjoyed working out at Curves with her friends and staying in shape. Elizabeth was a diehard Seattle Mariner’s fan and knew the team’s line ups better than the coaches or at least always had a suggestions of what they could have done better. Above all she loved her family and chances to get together and cook special Armenian dishes.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Harry Moomjian; nephew, Paul Moomjian; nieces, Tammy McCoy and Helen Freeman (and husband, Brian); former husband, Al McCoy and dear friend, Audrey Fisher and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial and celebration of Elizabeth’s life is planned for 2:00 p.m., April 13, 2016 at the Hood River American Legion Post #22 (1305 Tucker Road). Contributions may be given in Elizabeth’s name to the American Legion Post #22.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
