Condolence: Dr. Henderson was one of the pillars of my childhood. Like Ms Annala mentioned, he made house calls to our home as well, as he was my childhood doctor. He had the best bedside manner, always calm and comforting. As busy as he was, he seemed to be at everyone of my ball games (Phil was a teammate). I remember playing basketball with him at the Elks club. He was blessed with a life well lived and much admired in the community. May he rest...

Condolence: A day I won’t forget ...... I was a freshman in high school and one afternoon in my biology class I had some kind of stomach attack and fell to the floor. I managed to walk to my grandmothers home nearby. She could see that I was doubled up and in a lot of pain. She called my Dr, Dr Wade and he was out of town. Doc Henderson immediately got on the phone when the nurse told him what was going on, and the next thing I knew he was at my grandmothers door. He came in, did a quick exam and said “ her appendix may have burst, we need to get her to the hospital “ ...... he loaded us up in his personal car and drove straight to the hospital for an emergency surgery. Doc Henderson saved my life that day . Caring for people, all people and going above and beyond. House calls, “no problem” “using his own car for an ambulance” no problem..... that was the kind of Dr and man that he was. I still thank him often. We will miss you Doc.

Condolence: Dr. Allan Henderson was a central figure in a few of my major life events. In the early sixties he was bird hunting with his father and my grandfather near Vale, OR. My grandfather, while driving the jeep suffered a fatal heart attack. My mother and our family have always believed that if Allan and his father were unable to change that outcome no one could have.
In 1962 and 1963 Allan performed two hernia surgeries on me when I was aged 6 and 7. While recovering from the second one we learned of the assasination of President Kennedy. Much later while in college I learned how dangerous ether was for anesthesia. It gave me greater appreciation for the skill it took for Dr. Henderson to complete those surgeries successfully.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. While it is always difficult to lose a loved one, after reading the obituary it seems easy to celebrate how he lived.

Condolence: Fifty years ago today Dr. Henderson delivered our daughter Shellie in the early morning hours. He was our doctor until he retired. After that, while we were both members of the Hood River Rotary, he shared pictures of one of his trips. As he was leaving a small boy came up to him to say goodbye and Dr. Henderson gave him the hat he was wearing. The young man smiled from ear to ear. That hat meant the world to the young lad. Allan's kindness and willingness to help others will always be remembered. May the wonderful memories you have shared over the years help you through this difficult time.

Condolence: Not only was Al our family doctor but our neighbor on Belmont Road. He was a caring gentle doctor and saw our family through many illnesses. He was also a friend. I am heartbroken at his passing and wish his family peace and comfort.
