Life Story for Donald R. "Fix Pix" Fix

Donald R. "Fix Pix" Fix
Donald Richard Fix
“Fix Pix,” left this world
on Oct. 29, 2017, to enter
heaven. Donald was born
Aug. 23, 1943, to Harley
and Leola Fix in Eugene,
Ore. He was the youngest
of five children.
Don was an extremely
hard worker, many times
working a day shift and
then playing music at
night until 2 a.m. He was
an accomplished welder
and worked on numerous
barges and cruise ships
that still travel on the Columbia
River. He also
worked in the aluminum
industry at both The
Dalles, Ore., and Goldendale,
Wash., plants.
Don was blessed with
the gift of music; he could
hear a song once and play
it verbatium, he never did
learn to read music. He
was a professional guitar
player and played lead for
many local bands. He was
especially proud of being
in the Lee Anderson Band
and winning the Wrangler
competition for the
state of Oregon. He was
then able to travel to
Nashville, Tenn., to the
national competition to
compete on the stage of
the Grand Ole Opry.
Don wasn’t ready to
completely retire so he
went to work for The
Dalles Chronicle delivering
papers to South
Wasco County. He traveled
many miles and
loved his customers and
became great friends with
the dogs that greeted him
each day.
Don was preceded in
death by his parents;
brothers, Jake and Bob
Fix; and sister, Maxine
Workman.
Don is survived by his
wife, Cecilia “CeCe” Fix
of Dufur, Ore.; children,
Jim (Juanita) Martin,

Goff all of Miles City,

(Tiffany) McLaughlin of
Dufur; 15 grandchildren,
