Donald “Don” Dean Daniel of Stevenson, Washington passed away April 4, 2017 at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, in Hood River, Oregon. He was 89 years of age at the time of his passing.

Don was born in Wasola, Missouri the son of John Walter Daniel and Lela Gertrude Turner. He was preceded in death by his sister Gerraldean Jacobs, his mother Lela and father, John. Don is survived by his wife Norma Daniel of 65 years and his children Larry, Denise and Bruce; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Don enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and fought in WWII and was Honorably Discharged. Upon discharge, Don held many positions in the workforce, including but not limited to, being a machinist as well as working within the aerospace industry. Don worked on several aspects of the first manned rocket (Freedom 7) in which Alan Shepherd was the astronaut.

Don had a deep love of the outdoors. He relished the time he spent on his Gentleman’s Farm working in his acre sized garden and tending to his livestock. Upon retirement, Don and his wife travelled to Australia, Fiji and New Zealand. He also found time to play golf.

A celebration of life is planned for 3:00 PM, Thursday April 6th at Rock Cove Assisted Care (986 NW Rock Creek Drive, Stevenson, WA 98648).
