Life Story for Dean Wayne Kinne

Dean Wayne Kinne passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 16th, 2018. Milan and Mildred Kinne were blessed with the birth of their second son on July 2, 1947. Dean grew up on the farm and attended Odell Grade School, Mid-Valley Middle School and graduated from Wy’East High School in 1965. During his childhood he enjoyed being a member of 4-H. Then when he entered Wy’East High School he was a proud member of the FFA. Dean’s first love was always animals. His kind demeanor always brought animals to him throughout his whole life.

Right after high school Dean joined the Air Force and he serve in Vietnam and in Cambodia. He was definitely in the trenches of the war. The paperwork of his activity duty had been whited out, hiding the areas he where he served. It took many years for him to realize the extreme danger he was actually in. But he was proud of his service. Later in life he wanted to continue his service, so he joined the National Guard. He proudly served another 10 years. He totally retired from the military in 1996.

Dean always had a love for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. When he got home from Vietnam he purchased his first Harley, grew his hair out long and became a Rebel, according to him. He always said he was on the wrong track until he walked into Mid-Valley Market and met the first love of his life…Martha Lavelle Seal. They talked that day and before he left, he told her that he thought he loved her. They began dating and later had a 25 year loved filled marriage, before Lavelle’s passing in 2002. Dean entered into this premade family that turned his life around. Lavelle had five children that accepted him and they quickly realized what a huge heart Dean had.
God was a very important part of Dean’s life. He always said that God lead him to the second love of his life, Donna Patrick. Donna and Dean had a very special relationship. From the beginning they could complete each other thoughts. They enjoyed 13 beautiful years of marriage. They both enjoyed spending time helping out the community and were there for anyone who need assistance. The love and laughter they shared would spread to anyone near them.

Dean became a loyal community man. He joined both the Odell and Pine Grove Fire Departments, and then served as an activity member for 38 years. Dean felt that Emergency Medical Services were vital for the community. The Fire Department helped him get trained to be an EMT III and those skills lead him to be a medic with the National Guard. Next he took his skills as a medic and trainer from the National Guard and brought them back to our community to train the Fire Departments members. He supported anyone who wanted to be an EMT. When he retired from the combined Wy’East Fire Department, he was the EMS Captain.

Fire and EMS were not his only community service activities. Dean also helped with the DARE Programs, by being the Happy Hippy. He dressed up in his old biker clothes, wore a long hair wig and went into the schools to explain the dangers of drug use. He also led Sunday service at Norcor for six years.
Dean was proceeded in death by his parents Mildred and Milan Kinne, his first wife Martha Lavelle Kinne, Mother and Father in-law Joe and Irene Patrick, step daughter Debbie McGaughey, son in-law Harold Nelson, son in-law Gordon Burton, and daughter in-law Starr Conley-Seal.

He is survived by his wife Donna Kinne; brother Dale Kinne (Luella); niece Teresa Borg (Stephen); sister-In-law JoAnn Patrick; niece Rebekah (Joe) Johnson; great niece Gabriella Johnson; nieces Stephanie (Arturo) Fontanez; great nephew Vinny Fontanez; brother in-law Joe Patrick (Theresa); step-children Gerald Seal; Vern Seal (Theresa); Shawna Nelson; Candace Seal-Burton; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; and The Wy’East Fire District members.

Services were held Friday February 23, 2018. Donations may be made in Dean’s name to the Wy’East EMS Training for Firefighters Fund (C/O Wy’East Volunteer Fire Department PO Box 56 Odell, OR 97044).
