Obituary for Bonita "Bonny" Darr

Bonita "Bonny" Darr
Bonny (Bonita Marie) Darr was born July 9, 1947 in Hood River and was the only child of the wonderful Junior and Dorothy Carmen. She enjoyed a loving childhood with her parents and grandparents on East Eugene Street overlooking the Columbia River. Bonny remained lifelong friends with many of the people her parents knew and those she made on her own during her years in Hood River.

After she graduated, Bonny entered the work force and had a number of interesting jobs as an exceptional administrative assistant. She held several jobs in the Hood River area, including Mt. Hood Meadows, and many years in the Portland area, mostly in the legal field.

But, her happiest times were spent with her husband, Jim Darr. Together they enjoyed rock hounding, fishing, and spending time with their many friends.

Bonny was very creative and shared a love of cross stitching with a number of her girlfriends. She was also a past member of many groups including the Red Hat Society, the Embroidery Guild of America, and the Lions Club.

During all those years, she helped her parents and her husband Jim through their many medical crises. She was very devoted to them. Her life changed drastically when the three of them died within the space of one year.

After their deaths, Bonny lived in several different places and even traveled to Italy and France. But the health problems that she had developed over the years ultimately led to her death on June 30, 2017.

We will miss her delightfully wicked sense of humor and her warm heart and laugh. Bonny is back home in Hood River now and here she will stay, fondly remembered by all those who knew and cared about her.

Services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday July 12th, 2017 at Idlwilde Cemetery (970 Tucker Road, Hood River, Oregon 97031). Father Ron Maag of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center ( Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
