Beverly “Bev” / “Mimi” Rae Bryant passed away on January 14, 2019 at home surrounded by family in Hood River, Oregon. She was 89 years of age.

Bev was born on September 8, 1929 on her grandparents Smith’s farm in Gregory, South Dakota to Ray and Gladys (Smith) Schwartz. She moved with her family to Hood River in 1933 at age 4. She attended schools in Hood River from grades 1-8, then moved to Portland in 1942 attending Roosevelt High School (because her father was working in the shipyards during WWII). Bev returned to Hood River for her senior year. After graduating high school, Bev worked for Mr. Frisbie’s accounting firm.

On October 8th, 1949 Bev married Jay Bryant in Hood River, Oregon. They made their home in Hood River and soon welcomed their first son, Tom and then their second son, Terry.

Ray and Gladys’ owned and operated Hood River Distributors (later known as Mid-Columbia Distributors), where Jay went to work. In 1972, Jay and Bev purchased the business, working side by side until Jay’s passing in May 1996. Bev continued working with her sons and retired in 1998.

Bev enjoyed attending her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews school events, sporting events, dance and music recitals. Anything her family was involved in, she attended. Other favorite activities included cards, puzzles and board games with family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, participating on the Rainettes Team, and remained active in Card Club. Bev was inducted into the Hood River Valley High School hall of fame for being a cheerleader for the 1947 State Championship Football Team.

Bev is survived by her sons, Tom (& Yvonne) Bryant of Hood River, Oregon and Terry (& Teri) Bryant of Hood River, Oregon; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany (& Aaron), Jeffrey, Jordan (& fiancé Chera) and Jaclyn (& Joshua); 6 great grandchildren, Hunter, Maddy, Allison, Aiden, Brixton and Leilani; sister Mary Jo Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and many life-long childhood friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jay.

Services are planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. A private family committal will be at Idlewilde Cemetery Mausoleum.

Dear Family.- Your father Jay was the nicest man and that extended to you mom Bev. Always such a dear when I saw her in Rosauers. Jay would come in and I would buy Blazer tickets from him. I was always so grateful and excited during those times long ago. My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to your family. Blessings and love to all - Gina Santacroce
