Obituary for Angel Valentino Velasquez Sr.

Angel V. Velasquez, Sr. of Hood River, Oregon, was born in Hanford, CA on February 13, 1950. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 12, 2012 with his beloved wife at his side in Hood River at the age of 62.

Angel loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife Cecelia "CeCe" Velasquez, his cherished sons and daughters-in-law, Angel, Jr. & Jessica Velasquez, Jovil & Kathy Velasquez, his beloved grandchildren Frank, Angela, Angel III, Julian, Kyleigh, Quienton, Ashlee, KayLee, Hunter & great grandson Raiden. Angel loved to be around family and especially his grandchildren. He loved caring and cooking for his grandchildren and his family. Angel is also survived by his caring brother Socorro Velasquez of Colton, California, Frank Velasquez of Lindsay, California, Joe Velasquez of Armona, California, Jesse Velasquez of Hanford, California, & Julian Velasquez of Lemoore, California, his adoring sisters Nancy Millan of Lindsay, California, Della Garcia of Stockton, California, Jenny Wright & Marty Velasquez of Lemoore, California. Angel is also survived by his beloved Chihuahua Lucy who was a loving and faithful companion.

Angel attended Armona Elementary & Hanford West Campus and graduated from Columbia Gorge Community College. He worked for many years as a farm laborer for Wells & Sons in Hood River and later as a truck driver for the United States Forest Service in Carson, Washington.

Angel's childhood years were spent in Lemoore, California at the age of 19 he moved his wife and son Angel, Jr. to Hood River and later had their youngest son Jovil. Angel & CeCe moved to Hanford, California in 2008 to be close to his siblings, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. In August of this year when he was diagnosed with his illness, Angel and CeCe were moved back home to Hood River by their sons Angel & Jovil to live the remainder of his life surrounded by family; his sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.

When Angel was still able to he made time for his hobbies which included; cooking, gardening, watching tv, wood working, building furniture and hunting and collecting treasures from years sales and flea markets.

Services to honor Angel’s life and mourn his passing are planned for 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 22nd, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (1501 Belmont Ave., Hood River). Donations can be made in memory of Angel to Heart of Hospice.
