Be it clearly understood that my friend and colleague Harold "Pete" Richards was a very special person to all who crossed his pathway in life. Pete and I grew up together in Newport, WA and so had an early beginning in friendship building. We attended different universities but never lost track of one another and in mid career were able to join forces to assist students and teachers in technology education. Pete worked on the local and national levels in the Technology Student Association (TSA) and provided solid leadership in that organization at the national level. Pete was always the leader, the person who stepped out to improve education for students and teachers, and always had a positive, "can do" attitude. I recently had the opportunity to meet most of the Richards family members in Newport while attending a memorial for Pete's mother, Margaret. I am privileged to have been one of Pete's friends. I shall always remember him as a cherished friend and supporter of all that is good in education and life.
