I worked with Jerry at Hanel Lumber for a long time. The work could be a grind but Jerry could get you through it with his humor and kindness and caring. The repetitive work beat Jerry up but did not slow him down. He worked with a lot of pain but never missed work. He just believed in giving Hanel's everything he had. His wife Phyllis was probably the only person that really knew how tough it was. He was a truly tough guy, working through all that pain. I played a lot of golf with Jerry too. Just like at work, I enjoyed his humor and encouragement and his positive nature. He would praise my shots like they were really something even though his shots were always better. Jerry was a very solid golfer. He was skilled at a very tough game. I always enjoyed playing golf with Jerry. Golf has a way of exposing strengths and weaknesses but with Jerry it was all strengths. We had so much fun! There was so much more to him that what I knew but what I knew was a great guy. End of life troubles can be so overwhelming so I hope the family can remember Jerry from the best of times. He was a great, positive part of my life. Rest in peace, Jerry. My best to Jerry's family.
