I had traveled from northern Oregon to southern Oregon for Leon and Joanne's niece's wedding and had arrived into town after dark. I tried to call my wife to see how I can get into her parents' house and out of the rain. I didn't know this at the time, but she was in a place where she was not able to get cell phone reception, so I was not able to get inside her parents' house. Not only was I without a place to be, but I also had my youngest daughter with me and I needed to figure out something quick. Feeling alone, I went into the only restaurant and proceeded to order something for my daughter and I to eat. After sitting in the booth for a while, in walked Leon and Joann and they sat and had dinner with may daughter, their great-granddaughter and I that evening. Leon's kind face and warm smile was a welcoming sight, as I was really starting to feel even more alone and frustrated becauase I didn't know when I was going to see someone and be able to get inside. During the time of eating and visiting with Leon and Joanne, I had essentially forgotten about my current issue and really enjoyed their company.
Looking back at that moment, I now know that he had a special mission to be there for people as much as he could, even if it only means joining someone for dinner.....
