Condolence From: Todd Dye
Condolence: Sorry to hear of Eirik's passing. I only knew Eirik through cyclocross racing, but he always seemed to be smiling. I remember a fierce competitor and a super fit and strong racer, yet a very humble guy. He always made a point to say hello and chat before/after a race despite the fact I don't think I every bested him in a race. The last time I saw Eirik was up at the Motocross national race at Washougal. We were both spectating, and he picked me out of a crowd and said hello even though we hadn't crossed paths in a couple years and this was at a totally outside of the bicycle racing world in which we knew each other. Normally it's hard to recognize somebody you haven't seen without a helmet on, so I was floored that he recognized or remembered me. I think that was the kind of guy he was, and I wish I had known him better.
Sad to hear of his passing, just doesn't seem real. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
