Janet Lynn Fischer passed away Tuesday April 8, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. Janet was born on July 11, 1952 and was 61 years of age at the time of her passing.
Janet was born in Hood River, Oregon to Elmore and Joanne (Harper) Meyers. She grew up in the valley, attending school at May Street Elementary and graduating from Hood River Valley High School in 1971. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and riding her horse “Patches”.
She worked for Duckwall Pooley and loved interacting with her co-workers, many of whom she called friends. She also loved Halloween, and dressed up every year.
On June 14, 1980 Janet married Joe Fischer. They made their home in Mount Hood, Oregon. They enjoyed going out to eat and getting lost going to the coast. Janet enjoyed working in her yard, flowers, gardening and was an active homemaker.
Janet is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Joe Fischer of Mount Hood, Oregon; brothers, Gene Meyers of Parkdale, Oregon and Rick Meyers of Odell, Oregon; numerous nieces & nephews, other distant family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Cathy Newson.
A service to mourn Janet’s passing and celebrate her life is planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at Anderson's Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031). Graveside Rites will follow at the Upper Valley Cemetery of Parkdale, Oregon. All are invited to a reception that will follow the graveside at the Parkdale Fire Hall. A special gathering for friends to greet with family and view is planned from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday evening at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
Memorials are encouraged to be made in Janet’s name to; Hospice of the Gorge or the Parkdale Fire Department.
