Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Veva "Orion" Wattenburg can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Veva "Orion"  Wattenburg
Veva “Orion” Wattenburg passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the age of 100 surrounded by her caregivers at her home in Hood River. Orion was born July 9, 1913 in Fossil, Oregon to Bert and Nellie Wattenburg.

Services are planned for 11:00 Am., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Idlewilde Cemetery (980 Tucker Road Hood River, Oregon 97031).

Orion went to grade school in The Dalles and graduated from high school in Wasco, Oregon. After graduation Orion went to telegraph operators school in Spokane, Washington, after completing school she was sent to Klamath Falls to work for Western Union Telegraph Company. She then transferred to Hood River in 1952 with Western Union until she retired. Orion and Alma started a small daycare and loved spending time with the kids.

Orion enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and reading.

Orion is survived and will be dearly missed by her cousin Laineyan Dillinger of The Dalles, her Guardians Phil Mason and his spouse Sue, caregivers Vicky of The Dalles and Linda, Terry, Shirley, and Marie of Hood River.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Nellie, her brother Alvis and sister Alma Watson.

Memorials are encouraged to be made in Orion’s name to the charity of your choice.
