Obituary for Ronald Franklin "Ron" Engle
Ronald F. Engle, 80, passed away on Friday January 10, 2014 at his home in Hood River, Oregon after a valiant fight with cancer. Ron was born on April 10, 1933 to Kenneth and Lucy (Moyer) Engle in Zanesville, Ohio.
Ron received his general education in the Phoenix, Arizona School District, and shortly after, enlisted in the Air Force where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. On July 16, 1959, Ron married Bettie Jeane (Durham) Engle in Mesa, Arizona. Ron worked for many years at the General Motors Desert Proving Ground in Mesa, Arizona. Besides Mesa, Ron also resided in Vacaville, California, and lastly in 1988, Ron and his family moved to Hood River, Oregon. In his free time Ron enjoyed anything that had to do with mechanics, and as his loved ones well know; his favorite hobby was cars, cars, cars.
Ron is survived and will be sorely missed by his daughter Mary Lou Mathis of Portland Oregon; granddaughter Bethany Mathis of LaGrande, Oregon; grandsons Brandon and Tyler Mathis of Portland, Oregon; and brother Tom Engle of McKinney, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bette Jean Engle, son Mark Engle, parents Ken and Lucy Engle, and his brother Jim Engle.
Memorial Services are planned for Monday January 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center 1401 Belmont Avenue Hood River, Oregon.
