Michael Duane Vanderslice, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 9, 2013 at the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital surrounded by those he loved. Michael was born on September 14, 1963. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.

Michael was born on September14, 1963 in Jackson County, Kansas to Raymond and Gwendolyn Vanderslice. After receiving his high school education, he entered the Marine Corps and served our country from 1981 to 1988.

Michael was employed by Rosauers in Hood River for the last 7 years as a cashier. In his spare time he enjoyed playing guitar, singing, watching television, listening to Heavy Metal music, coin collecting, camping, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Michael is survived by his children James Vanderslice, Jason Vanderslice, and Jessica Vanderslice of Hood River, Oregon. Along with his children, Michael is also survived by his companion Dawn Mathias of Hood River, Oregon. He is also survived by brothers Timothy Vanderslice of Hood River, Oregon, Ray Vanderslice and William Vanderslice of Vancouver, Washington; sisters Belinda Vanderslice of Portland, Oregon, and Bonnie Busch of Arkansas. Michael is also survived by his granddaughter Trinity Troxel of Hood River, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gwendolyn Vanderslice.

A celebration of Michael’s life is planned for Sunday December 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Anderson’s Tribute Center 1401 Belmont Avenue Hood River, Oregon with Reverend Randy Lee officiating. A reception will follow at Anderson’s Tribute Center.

The family suggests that donations may be made in care of the family.
