Obituary for Leora Belle "Lorie " Biornstad

Lorie Biornstad passed away at 79 years of age Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Canyon Rim Manor in Maupin, Oregon. Lorie was born January 30, 1934 in Portland, Oregon to Clara A. & Ed Punzel.

Lorie grew up and received her education certificate in Portland, Oregon. After general education she worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Powelhurst & Damascus and was a homemaker.

February 3, 1951 Lorie married John Biornstad in Portland at her parents’ home, John describes his wife as very loving and devoted to him, their four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also very outgoing, generous and loved to keep people happy.

Lorie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing piano, gardening, teaching the bible to woman, camping, hunting and loved to burn brush.

Lorie is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband John of 65 years, son John of Big Lake, Alaska, daughter Sharon Carnahan of Corvallis, son Steven of Corvallis, daughter Susan Althens of Alaska, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are encouraged to be made in Lorie’s name to Hearts of Hospice in Hood River 541-386-1942.

Private Family ceremony and memorial service 1:00pm February 1st, 2014 at the Nazarene Church in Hood River.
