Obituary for Cleoda Marjorie Jackson

Cleoda Marjorie Jackson, “Margie” passed away at 86 years of age on October 25, 2013.

Margie was born October 21, 1927 to Odie and Cleo (Washburn) Edwards in Missouri. On July 21, 1946 she married Allen E. Jackson. A Cascade Locks resident for 60 years; Margie is survived by her husband of 67 years Al, daughter Jackie, grandchildren Katie Randolph and Jacob Buroker-Jackson and great grandchildren Poppy, Ellis and Molly.

During Margie’s life she was dedicated to and instrumental in helping and raising nieces, a nephew and others. As a girl Margie helped raise her three younger brothers (now deceased) while her parents worked in shipyards during WWII. In her later life, Margie’s final charges were grand-nieces Bonnie and Armesha whom she loved and reared from infancy.

Margie’s life was one of serving and lifting up others. She was a dedicated wife, a loving and tender mother, faithful guardian, an excellent cook, seamstress, seeker of knowledge, avid reader and committed to helping others without ceasing.

Margie attained proficiency in engineering and road design, she worked planning and drafting many of the roads and byways in the Mt. Hood National Forest were she was employed for 16 years with the U.S Forest Service. Later, with the spotted owl controversies, there were no more roads to design, however, Margie’s handiwork remains. Her designs and contributions to our beautiful forests will continue to be enjoyed by future generations.

Margie also enjoyed antiques and, for a time, participated in a shared business with her daughter, Jackie. Those years were special to Margie; helping with every aspect of the business with her most treasured role-helping to care for her then young grandchildren.

Margie was in her home to the end with love, care and support provided by husband Al and daughter, Jackie. Margie lives on in the hearts of all who knew her well. She was the quiet but an ever present support to all. She will be missed and never for gotten.

A memorial Service will be held at Cascade Locks Community Church on Tuesday October 29, 2013 at 2:00pm.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
