Obituary for Laura Jeanne Chapman

Laura “Jeanne” Chapman passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Hood River Care Center surrounded by those she loved. Jeanne was born March 3, 1927 in Arcata California to Edward A. and Willene Robey (York) she was 86 years of age.

The family is planning a private ceremony at a later date.

She grew up in the Bay Area. Jeanne also lived in the Salem area for over 20 years recently moving to Hood River 2 years ago to be closer to family.

Jeanne graduated from Castlemont High School. She then began working in property management until retirement.

In 1967 Jeanne married Richard Chapman at the Chapel of the Bells in Reno, Nevada.

Jeanne enjoyed square dancing, bowling, crochet and mostly valued the time she spent with family even following her parents as they moved from different locations. She also adored her small dogs Mandy & Lacy.

The family remembers Jeanne for her good nature, sense of humor and that she loved to tease.

Jeanne is survived and will be dearly missed by her three sons; Gary Swager and spouse Mary of Danville, CA, Ken Swager and spouse Lael of Hood River, OR, Scott Swager of San Luis Obispo, CA, nine grandchildren, Lori, Tom, Jason, Jeff, Melissa, Stephen, Eric, Angela and Jill and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, sister JoAnne and brother-in-law Len.

Memorials are encouraged to be made in the name of Laura Jeanne Chapman to Providence Hospice of the Gorge.
