Obituary for Ruthford Daniel "R.D." Scott

Ruthford Daniel "R.D."  Scott
Ruthford Daniel Scott (Scotty) passed away in his home on August 2, 2013 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Priest River, Idaho on March 12, 1923, but moved to the Portland area shortly thereafter.

He lived in Oregon until 2005 when he moved to the Trout Lake, WA area. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy of 70 years; daughter, Janine Scott; Sons, Gary Scott, James Scott and wife Susan, and Gregory Scott and wife Teresa; brother, Walter Scott of Los Angeles CA; 3 sisters, Joyce Scott of Trout Lake WA, Myrna Schultz of Mineral, Virginia and Doris Davis of Trout Lake WA; also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Clara Scott; and his sister, Betty Albaugh.

Scotty married Dorothy Edith Collins on February 21, 1943. Shortly after being married he served his country in WWII as an Army NCO Sgt. in the Philippines and was honorable discharged in March of 1946 He then worked for Loggers and Contractors, Weyerhauser, and Interstate Tractor until he retired. After retirement he became a passionate woodworker, building many grandfather clocks, a bedroom set, china cabinets, sewing machine cabinets and living room furniture.

In 2003 Scotty and Dorothy began building their retirement home in Trout Lake with their daughter, Janine. He often said how blessed he was to live in such a beautiful place.

Scotty will be buried with full honors at Willamette National Cemetery (11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97086) at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013. Those attending are asked to meet at the main entrance office at 10:45 AM to be escorted to the committal shelter. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 16th, 2013 followed by a light lunch at the Tout Lake Grange Hall.
