Obituary for Yolanda Martinez

Yolanda Martinez passed away on April 19, 2021 at Mid- Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon. Yolanda was born on October 8, 1959 in Morelia Michoacan Mexico to parents J Rosario Martinez & Evangelina Pacheco.

She had many childhood memories that involved her brothers and sisters. She would always talk about playing outside and learning how to dance with her brothers, sisters, and her next-door neighbors, but her most precious memories involved her family. Yolanda finished high school and was in the process of going to a nursing program in Morelia Michoacan. Her life dream was to be a nurse to help heal people.
She resided in Morelia, Michoacan through her childhood, and as a teenager all through her adult life Hood River, Oregon was her home. Her last three years of life The Dalles, Oregon was her place of residence, but her heart was always in Hood River where she will be laid to rest.

Yolanda worked for Moore Orchards until her health issues did not allow her to work. She was happy and proud to be a full stay at home mom and also took care of all her nieces and nephews; this was something my she was very proud of. She enjoyed reading, gardening, learning about history (she and her daughter Eva would enjoy long conversations about history), my mom also enjoyed watching medical shows with her daughter Lissette, my mom enjoyed knitting, Arts and crafts, collecting turtles, and seashells.

She was a very devoted Catholic, even if she was feeling ill, she would watch daily mass and Rosary on the Catholic channel. No matter what hardships my mom went through she never lost her faith.

In 2009, after 2 ½ months in a medical induce coma, she woke up the day of her birthday. Miraculously she woke up cheerful and not really knowing what happened. She woke up asking for ice chips and jello because she was hungry, but Yolanda being the kind woman she was started asking everyone in her hospital room if they wanted some of her ice chips and jello because it was very delicious. She was upset with her nurse because she would not give her gum or chocolate, so to cheer her up my uncle said that when she got better, he would buy her a bag of each.

Yolanda is survived by her two daughters Eva Rosario R. and Lissette A. R. who reside in The Dalles, Oregon; Her parents J Rosario and Evangelina Martinez who reside in Odell, Oregon; Her brothers and sisters: Maria Mosqueda(Ruben Mosqueda), Jose Martinez (Diocelina Martinez), Martha Quintana ( Elfego Quintana), and Victor Martinez (Genoveva Martinez) who reside in Odell, Hood River, and The Dalles Oregon.

Her nieces and nephews: Enrique Mosqueda, Ruben Mosqueda, Mia Bell (Martinez), Victor Jr. Martinez, Lirio Martinez, Ivan Quintana, Yosef Martinez, Maritza Quintana, Danelly Quintana, Celeste Valle (Martinez), Daisy Poe (Martinez), and Moses Martinez all whom reside in Hood River, The Dalles, Portland, and California.
She was very attached to her two emotional support dogs Candy and Yuuki who are being cared for by Eva and Lissette.

Yolanda's Daughters and The Martinez family would like to thank everyone who donated and reached out to our family during this hard and unexpected time. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts to receive so much love and support.
