Obituary for Standley Lee

Standley Alvin Lee “Stan” was born on May 3rd, 1959, to Troy Lee and Kay Kaley Lee in his beloved Hood River.   Stan passed away February 26th, 2024 in Hood River at the age of 64.

Stan, as he was known, met Gayle Carter at Hood River Valley High School in 1976, they married and welcomed a son, Joshua Carter Lee who completed their family.  Stan and Gayle were true partners in all of life’s adventures, sharing a love for travel, gardening, and spoiling their grandchildren.  Stan was a natural caregiver who joyfully shared his homespun advice to anyone and everyone he met. He worked at Luhr Jensen for many years however, his best work was as a nanny to his two granddaughters Vivienne Rose Lee and later Evelyn Harper Lee.

Stan had an immense passion for his family, spiritual work, and the natural world.  He will be remembered for his tenacity, voracious love of life, and his mountain-shaking laughter. Stan will be dearly missed by all who were honored to know and love him.

He is survived by his wife Gayle Lee; his son Joshua Lee (wife Jeanie Zamarripa-Lee); granddaughters Vivienne Lee, Evelyn Lee; his brother Terrill Lee (wife Carrie Simmons Lee), and sister H. Denise Johnson (husband Charles Johnson); his "Bud" Cody Sprague as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Kay Lee; his sister Larene Lee and Lisa Marie Lee.

A celebration of life for Stan will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 4, 2024 at River of Life Assembly (979 Tucker Road, Hood River, Oregon 97031).
