When Mel came into my life, I didn't like him at all. He was a competitor. As time went on I couldn't help but start to like him and we developed a close friendship. Even though we continued to be competitors, we learned to work together and I remember many long conversations out in the middle of orchards. I am so sorry to learn of Mel's passing, but take solace of his life well lived. My condolences to the family. Michael Cardon
